E Chapter 3: [Voyage] – the mystery
“Gyaaa!”
Slap!
“Are you really a man, yeah? How come you cry so loudly when I apply my meds to your wound but act like an immortal when there’s a battle?”
“Gyaa, being treated hurts more than being stabbed. Lynn, take care of my wound tenderly!”
“Yeah, yeah, you’d better be careful not to get hurt later on, Barbaro…”
“It’s impossible; you should be the one who improved at putting in medications so that it doesn’t hurt!”
Lynn shooed the man away and summoned another person to treat him, slapping him on the back.
Several months after the captain departs, the ship continues to travel across the Grand Line, encountering other pirates along the way. The pirates became stronger, and the marines began to target them whenever they patrolled.
Nobody can be their ally, but such is life.
They must not only be mindful of the folks on the grand line’s waters. The neighboring sea monster, as well as the weather, may be their adversaries.
Frequently, the sea is treacherous and destroys pieces of their ship. There’s a chance they’ll be slain by both of those creatures if they don’t cooperate and deal with the matter.
As entertaining as it was, they had to be cautious every day.
“How close were we to the nearest island, Navigator?”
Brook yelled towards the man on the watch tower.
Looking the horizon with his telescope, the man said.
“We should arrive at Alabasta in a few days!”
As they shouted one after the other, the crew let out a joyful yell.
“At last, the land!”
“Woman!”
“Yeah!”
“Place to spent our loot!”
“Yeah!”
“Food!”
“Yeah”
“Land!”
“Yeah!”
“Drugs!”
When they hear the last word, they look at each other to see who is speaking it. The boys squint their eyes towards their little doctor.
“What? Which of you does not require medications to be healed?”
Lynn yelled back, oblivious to what their squint signified.
They snickered and shouted, knowing the youngsters meant medicine in his words.
“Drugs!”
**
While the others were having fun, Lynn sought out the doctors in his vicinity and learned more about medicine, medicinal herbs, and any drugs they knew.
They were asked and answered questions.
As he continues his question and seeks assistance from his tutor. Lynn gained a greater grasp of the works mentioned as a result of this experience.
Some will let him cope with little hurt or disease, while others will simply let him see and decline his assistance. He’d never had the opportunity to touch a knife and assist a surgeon with his work.
After one month of docking, all necessary preparations had been finished.
“we’ve got the stock! What about the drugs, Lynn?”
“All okay! I even brought some pain killers, and a weird herb I found on the market!”
“Huh? What herb?”
“I don’t know, the doctors I asked don’t know what it is. Even the seller doesn’t know about it…”
“Let me see it”
“Okay, I’ll bring it to you master. Wait for a bit…”
Lynn went to the medics while waving to Brook.
Brook was suspicious and requested that Lynn bring him the herb.
When Lynn came, he handed over the box, and Brook looked inside.
“This… it’s looks like a devil’s fruit…”
“what’s that?”
“haven’t I told you the thing?”
“Oh! Right, it’s the fruit which will make you unable to swim right?”
“It is”
“Then, what’s the fruit’s ability?”
“Right, that’s what I don’t know…”
“Okay?”
“Like I said, it should be a devil fruit. But, I don’t see the look alike of the one I once ate…”
“Okay… Barbaro!”
Lynn yelled and summoned Barbaro to them.
“On the way!”
Barbaro said as he ran towards them.
“What is it, lil’ doc?”
“Try this”
Lynn said, as he gave the herb to Barbaro.
“What kind of herb is this?”
“The one that will make you a man on the bed?”
“Why’d you put a question mark in the end?”
“Just eat it…”
“what am I? a guinea pig?”
Despite his protests, Barbaro carried out Lynn’s instructions. Not only Barbaro has changed throughout the years. Even the other crew members had a lot of faith in him because he always did his best for them.
In some ways, he was regarded as reliable as their commander, Brook. Even higher than their vice-captain.
Barbaro failed in his attempt to bite the herb.
“Huh?”
“Hmmm, so that’s why the peddler sold it cheaply…”
While Barbaro flabbergasted as thing passed through his mouth.
“What the fuck?”
Barbaro took the thing away, and stare at it.
“How much did you bought it from the peddler?”
“Uh… around, 1 million berry?”
Brook inquired as Lynn turned away from him, palming his face while Barbaro continued to nibble the herb-like fruit.
“so, you actually buy a useless herb for 10 million berry?”
“N… no… it’s around 2 million berry…”
“You’re suck at lying, Lynn. Remind me to limit your money…”
“Nooo!”
Brook exits the room, shaking his head and smacking Barbaro on the back of the head to stop him from doing anything.
“Give me the fruit, Barbaro…”
“Sure, here you go…”
Keeping the fruit on the box, he just threw the thing on his room.
****
“Keep your eyes on the attack!”
While Brook stabbed Lynn, the child escaped the attack and countered him from his position. Brook easily avoids the strike and slashes at Lynn, but the boy blocks it. He was blown away and grunting in pain.
“Ugh… you’re being too sparta, master…”
Lynn whined, writhing in anguish and gripping his stomach, saying his six-pack stomach hurts.
Even though the blade they were using was made of wood, the impact could still cut him.
In reality, his outerwear was well-cut.
“Now I need to patch them again, ugh…”
Lynn said as he scratched his head.
“Take it easy, boy. It’s not like you’d die as a result of a scratch.”
“Master, I know you’re doing this for my benefit. But you remember how you almost chopped my body in half when you used a wooden sword on me during our first spar, right?”
“Is it my fault you’re so frail? It’s not like I know you’re as weak as paper; that’s why I told you to practice your instrument more when resting, to train your motoric sensors. Yohohoho”
“It’s creepy how you laugh at me like that.”
Bam
“Ouch!”
Hitting Lynn’s head, Brook irritatingly saying “It’s rude to call your master creepy. Yohoho”
“In any case, what’s makes you think of not trying to eat the weird devil fruit?”
“That thing? Why’d I want to eat that thing?”
“don’t you want to be stronger?”
Looking down on Brook, Lynn sighing.
“Master, just look at you. You can’t swim after eating the dang fruit, and you still don’t sure what type of power the item possesses. I’m not going to risk my life like that while floating in the middle of the sea…”
“Yohoho, I still think it’s worth it.”
“What is it? I read the book about the Devil fruit, an unknown creature with only one power. Logia, Paramecia, and Zoan come in three varieties. All known fruits are listed in the encyclopaedia, although none of the drawings in the book resemble this floppy disk-like fruit. I’d never eat something odd like that; I don’t enjoy taking chances with my life!”
“You have a really sharp mind. But do you truly believe you’ll be able to chose when the chips are down?”
“Well, since no one can eat it in the first place, I doubt I’d be able to.”
“Just try to bite them, you never know if you never try. Yohoho”
“Yo, master. Are you a salesperson or something?”
“What is a floppy disk in the first place? Is that something from your hometown?”
Brook tried to avoid the subject.
“Yeah, an old school gadget that used to store things… Anyway, I’m not going to eat that stuff; I still want to be able to swim!”
