Everyone in the building was shocked by Koro-sensei’s scream, which echoed throughout the corridors. They rushed to the surgery room, but Karasuma stopped them before they could open the door.
“Don’t come in yet. The plaque is still on. Master Lynn usually puts it up to keep people out while he’s focused on the drug compounds. It might be dangerous for us to enter.”
They agreed with Karasuma and waited outside, anxiously anticipating the next scream.
“Is this what Karasuma-sensei meant when he said that Commander Lynn could kill Koro-sensei if he wanted to?”
“It’s possible, Nagisa…”
After a third scream, the lights in the room went out. Koro-sensei emerged from the room, his face brighter and more relaxed than before. Despite looking tired, he greeted the people waiting outside, causing them to worry about his health.
“This girl with green hair and the boy with white hair got the tentacles before, right?” Lynn asked unexpectedly. They all nodded.
Without hesitation, Lynn quickly administered the same pill to the kid he had given to Koro-sensei in the operating room. The kids screamed loudly, their cries piercing through the corridor.
“What the heck did you do to them?” Karma demanded, pointing his toy knife at Lynn. Nagisa and the other students rushed to comfort the green and white-haired kids, trying to calm them down.
In an instant, Karma’s sword vanished, rendering him unable to fight.
“Calm down. There are still pieces of antimatter in their bodies from before. If we don’t act quickly, it could evolve into a more serious condition. Since they can’t move their bodies like an octopus, it’s best to remove the antimatter as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, Nurufufu.”
“Don’t worry. I still feel responsible for their condition. It was my mistake to leave things this way.”
Lynn waited until the screams subsided before checking the kids’ health. “Hmm, the white-haired one is stable, but the green-haired one still needs another tablet tomorrow. She also has some injuries, so she might need a different kind of medicine. I’ll provide the other drugs tomorrow. Octopus, make sure she digests the tablet before giving her the next one.”
“Alright, Doctor. But could you treat them more normally? Like informing them before administering the medication?”
“This way is faster and less of a hassle… Anyway, I still have a meeting with the Speedwagon Foundation. I’ll leave if there’s nothing else…”
Ritsu started buzzing as Lynn prepared to leave. “Koro-sensei, I found information about the man named Brook.”
“Okay, then, Ritsu.”
“Based on the information, the most recent details about Brook come from a manga called One Piece. He is a…”
As soon as Lynn heard the term One Piece, a notification he hadn’t seen in 30 years appeared:
[Congratulations on finding the information regarding the main world. The reward will be given once you’ve gathered all the information currently available in the simulated world.]
Lynn’s body trembled. He felt something was wrong with the world but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what. The realization that something was amiss unsettled him deeply.
He fell silent suddenly. Koro, Karasuma, and Gakuha tried to call him, but Lynn was lost in thought.
Karasuma knew that Lynn had never read anything about One Piece and realized this was the first time Lynn was searching for someone with that name. Karasuma had often wondered about this but never asked Lynn directly. He had heard from a coworker in intelligence about a directive to look for specific individuals, including sketches.
“I see…” Lynn finally said, snapping out of his trance. He instructed Karasuma to buy every One Piece book and volume before he left.
“Oh, is that really the person you’re looking for?” Koro-sensei asked.
“I don’t know yet; I need to read them first. Thank you.” Lynn thanked Ritsu and Koro-sensei.
Leaving the hillside where the class was, Lynn headed to the Speedwagon Foundation in Japan. While en route in his car, he pondered:
“What’s this? From what I’ve learned, this game-like interface I saw in my mind looks real. Does this mean I’m living in a dream?”
The sudden realization about his situation made him question the reality of his surroundings. Despite the confusion, he decided not to dwell on it too much and continued with his normal routine.
“Master Lynn, the books have been bought. Where would you like to read them?”
The chauffeur’s call brought Lynn back to the present.
“Ask them to bring them to the Speedwagon base. I’ll read them on my way back…”
Lynn exited the car, carrying his briefcase, and proceeded to the designated room. As he walked, he speculated about Brook’s abilities and why the intelligence department had failed to find information about him.
‘Since this is a game-like interface, I need to gather all the necessary information. To better understand my situation, it would be wise to explore information about games and manga from now on.’
Lynn was deep in thought when he arrived at the designated room for his meeting. He opened the door and was greeted by Kujo Joutaro, who was in charge of the Speedwagon Foundation at the time.
“Mr. Lynn, thank you for accepting our invitation.”
“Pleased to help, Mr. Kujo Joutaro,” Lynn replied.
“I’m aware of the potential threat posed by the alien being. However, we also need to address another dangerous situation. I hope you can assist us in identifying the owner of this body,” Joutaro said, leading Lynn to the morgue.
Inside, Joutaro showed Lynn a body with unusual injuries. “This corpse is peculiar. What kind of weapon could inflict these deep cuts while preserving the body’s shape? According to the report, the individual was killed in a car accident, yet the body appears to be severed in an unusual manner. Additionally, the pathologist accurately determined the time of death, but there seems to be a discrepancy.”
Lynn examined the body closely. His extensive experience with pathology, a field dedicated to understanding diseases and their impact on living organisms, allowed him to recognize anomalies. Pathology involves studying tissues, cells, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases and understand their progression. Despite his focus on medicine and the military, Lynn had never encountered this kind of death before.
“Mister Kujo, I understand your concerns.”
“Yes, sir. In America, we are limited in what we can do, despite our knowledge. If you can assist, it would be greatly appreciated. My connections might prove useful.”
“Thank you, doctor. I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet my daughter.”
Lynn agreed to arrange a meeting with Miss Jolyne in Green Dolphin. He coordinated the time with Kujo and then left the building. When he reached his car, the books were already stacked on the seat. Lynn eagerly began reading.
He flipped through the character notes and examined the images, gradually familiarizing himself with the manga. The car navigated through intersections as Lynn instructed his driver to cancel all his plans for the week, dedicating himself entirely to reading.
According to Ritsu, Brook’s appearance was still some distance from the beginning of the manga. Nevertheless, Lynn absorbed new information that was invaluable compared to what he had learned from the Rumbar Pirates Group. Although some parts of the manga were incomplete, Lynn anticipated that these gaps would be filled in future storylines.
Having spent time in the New World and with the Rumbar Pirates, Lynn was aware that the timeline of One Piece diverged from his own, particularly with the mention of Gold Roger.
As Lynn finished the last chapter he was reading, a notification appeared in his interface:
