There was blood and bits of flesh splattered all over the walls. Groans filled the room as Lynn stood motionless in the center, his body scratched all over, and his clothes filthy with blood and grime. He had done everything in his power to find out where they had taken his sister, but all he could uncover was news about a missing boat.
“They sent her to a fishing boat… instead of a brothel.” The thought barely registered in his mind. The fact that she might still be alive, somewhere, should have been a relief. But the rage in him was too overpowering to allow for relief. They had sold her to a fishing boat because it paid more than a brothel would. It was great news if she hadn’t disappeared on them, but Lynn couldn’t stop thinking about what they might be doing to her.
His fury grew until he couldn’t think straight, and he didn’t stop until he got what he wanted. Some of the thugs died from the torture he inflicted on them.
The neighbors, terrified by the shouting and begging emanating from the building, called the police. When they arrived, the officers were horrified by what they saw. Assuming Lynn was one of the victims, they rushed him to safety while transporting the remaining survivors to the hospital.
Later that night, the truth came out. The boy they thought was a victim and eyewitness was, in fact, the perpetrator. By morning, Lynn had another charge to his name.
Students from his well-known school, traumatized by the earlier incident, were still in the hospital. His crimes quickly spread through the media.
When Lynn was sent to the local juvenile detention center, he unexpectedly ran into Thug A—the one who had escaped his earlier wrath. The thug, caught by the police, had been lucky enough to avoid Lynn’s vengeance.
“Well, well, well. Look who’s here!” the thug sneered as they crossed paths, assuming that the kid had gotten off lightly. He could have never imagined that the boy would later be accused of murdering his coworkers and be brought to court as a witness.
Hearing the testimony and seeing the evidence that Lynn had killed seven people, the thug was petrified. He couldn’t even meet Lynn’s gaze, trembling in terror as the kid stared him down.
Despite some judges and jury members feeling sympathy for him, Lynn was ultimately convicted of assault and murder. He was sentenced to four years in juvenile detention, with an additional year tacked on for the incident involving his classmates, bringing his total sentence to five years.
But for Lynn, prison was nothing compared to the hell he had lived through with the pirates. His days in detention were monotonous—eat, study, work out, sleep, and repeat. News of his crimes preceded him, and his fellow inmates and guards were all too aware of the danger he posed. No one dared to cross him, fearing the wrath of someone who had killed adults even when outnumbered.
At first, Lynn didn’t want to do anything. But memories of the day he failed to save Yorki, Brook, and Barbaro haunted him. Determined not to be powerless again, he started spending more time in the prison library, immersing himself in books on poisons and medicines.
His obsession puzzled the other inmates at first, but when they learned about his past and his relentless focus on studying, they began to respect him. Even the guards took notice and started to teach him everything they knew.
Over time, Lynn’s reputation changed. Some prisoners still tried to test him, but he quickly put them in their place. One particularly large and feared inmate made the mistake of challenging Lynn, only to be beaten so severely that he was unrecognizable afterward. As a result, Lynn was placed in an isolation cell and had his study time reduced. But the inmate who provoked him got nothing—Lynn had broken his hand, leaving him bedridden and crying for his mother. The irony wasn’t lost on the other inmates, given that the man was in prison for killing his mother in a drunken rage.
After two weeks in isolation, no one dared to bother Lynn again, and he finally found some peace.
Years passed, and as Lynn’s release approached, a guard assigned to the library struck up a conversation.
“Hey, Lynn, you’re leaving the day after tomorrow. What are you planning to do once you’re out?”
Lynn, now 19, considered the question. “Well, is there a probationary period for a former prisoner who wants to go to college and become a doctor?”
The guard looked thoughtful. “I don’t think so, but it’ll be tough. Most colleges won’t want a criminal, especially a convicted murderer, on their campus.”
Lynn sighed. “Then I’ll find another way to learn about medicine… I still want to become a doctor.”
The guard gave him a supportive smile. “Don’t give up, kid. You’re smart—really smart. You could get your high school diploma first. And hey, maybe you could join the army.”
“Even with my criminal record?”
“Why not? Sure, there’ll be a lot of paperwork and questions, but that shouldn’t stop you. The JSDF might already have their eye on you if they know how capable you are.”
For the first time in years, Lynn felt a glimmer of hope. He knew he still had a long road ahead, but at least he had a goal. As his release day drew near, he worked hard to secure a part-time job through a contact one of the guards had mentioned.
While working part-time, Lynn also focused on catching up on the education he had missed. His dedication paid off, and he passed his high school equivalency test with flying colors.
Lynn received praise from his colleagues at his part-time job. Afterward, he attempted to gain admission to medical school by submitting an application. However, his application was rejected. Despite his efforts, the schools were unwilling to accept him due to his notoriety.
Lynn understood this reality: a crime is a crime. He didn’t harbor regrets about his past actions, but he would have handled things differently if given a second chance. He would approach situations more strategically, ensuring that his actions wouldn’t be so easily criticized.
Unable to turn back time, Lynn didn’t dwell on it and moved forward with his life. He tried joining the military, a process that took considerable time but eventually led to his acceptance.
In the military, Lynn acquired a wealth of knowledge and formed friendships with people vastly different from the Rumbar Pirates. Together, they faced challenges and shared laughter over their struggles.
Lynn’s intelligence and capability led him to a series of successes. He became renowned for his musical talents, with his performances going viral on social media. Although his past anger occasionally caused trouble, he managed to keep his focus and not let it deter him.
Lynn saw his rising fame as an opportunity to search for his sisters, but this endeavor brought its own set of complications. Many individuals exploited his celebrity status, fabricating stories about his missing sister. Frustrated, Lynn requested to be stationed as a medic on the front lines. His exceptional performance earned him a position there, and he advanced from an assistant doctor to the chief surgeon by the end of his tenure.
Despite his achievements, Lynn felt he was still lacking in understanding the medical knowledge he had encountered during his time with the Rumbar Pirates. He immersed himself in books and sought out various learning opportunities to bridge this gap.
However, his quest for knowledge was often thwarted. “There are several things I learned in the Grand Line that differ from what I’m learning here. What’s wrong with them?” Lynn muttered to himself as he closed another book.
The discrepancies between Eastern and Western medicine, and the diseases he had encountered, left him perplexed. He had absorbed different medical practices from the Grand Line’s sea doctors compared to what was documented in his world’s literature.
Persistently, Lynn continued his studies in medicine and apothecary. He also revisited music as a means to remember his time with the Rumbar Pirates.
Years passed, and Lynn, now a significant figure in the army at the age of 40, faced a new challenge. He discovered a mysterious entity, a potential world-destroyer, created through human experimentation. The entity’s high agility rendered it nearly impossible to kill.
Tasked with managing this threat, Lynn delegated the responsibility to his trusted subordinates to ensure the entity’s demands were met.
“So, Karasuma, do you think you can handle that yellow thing?” Lynn inquired.
“Sir, yes sir!” Karasuma replied confidently.
