The antiseptic smell of the medical office filled Lynn’s nostrils as he faced the strange yellow creature before him. Afternoon sunlight streamed through the classroom windows, casting odd shadows across the tentacled figure’s perpetually grinning face.
“Nurfufufu, it’s an honor to have the God’s Hand meet me here,” the yellow blob said, tentacles folded together in a gesture reminiscent of prayer, eyes squinted in what appeared to be delight. The strange figure, known as Koro-sensei, performed his act well—having received confirmation from his trusted subordinate, Karasuma, and a recommendation from an old acquaintance who had practically begged Lynn to help the survivor of the human experimentation.
Lynn’s jaw tightened beneath his surgical mask. “Remove the act, Reaper. I don’t want to do business with you, and I’d prefer not to deal with your kind at all.” The weight of his medical bag seemed to grow heavier in his grip as memories of his own violent past threatened to surface.
He pushed them down. “But I owe something to the head of Kunugigaoka, and one of my subordinates asked me to do this. So, I’ll do my best to save you.”
The octopus-like creature immediately dropped his playful demeanor, his face blanching to a pale white. “I’ve already diagnosed myself and marked myself as beyond saving,” he admitted, his voice dropping several octaves lower. “I initiated this experiment and don’t really expect to be rescued…”
The faint sound of shuffling outside the classroom door caught Lynn’s attention. His eyes darted to the side, noting the silhouettes of several young students trying to peek through the classroom windows. Their curious whispers carried faintly through the glass.
“Look over there, Reaper.” Lynn nodded toward the classroom’s windows, ceiling, and door where shadows of movement betrayed their audience. “I don’t care what you think, but I’ll try my best since this is a request from my subordinate and someone I’m indebted to. So, keep quiet while I treat you…”
“Understood, nurufufufu,” the octopus replied, his color changing back to yellow as he settled onto the bed. “But please, don’t break your promise and kill me!”
Lynn’s hand shot out, lightly swatting the creature on his round head. The texture was strange—not quite solid, not quite liquid—unlike anything he’d encountered in this world. It brought back fleeting memories of creatures he’d once treated on the Grand Line.
In all his years of practice, Lynn had never encountered anything quite like this before—an abomination with a body destroyed by unknown forces and turned into a vessel to contain immense power. While Brook had once spoken of Devil Fruits and their strange effects, this was something entirely different. Lynn could feel the eeriness of whatever had transformed this being radiating from his peculiar form.
With practiced hands, Lynn extracted a sample from the octopus’s body, the smell of something vaguely sulfuric hitting his nostrils as he collected it for examination. Later in his lab, surrounded by beeping equipment and the harsh fluorescent lighting that reminded him nothing of the warm lantern glow of the Rumbar Pirates’ medical bay, Lynn studied the cells under his microscope.
He needed to thoroughly review the research paper from Yanagisawa Kotaro. Despite trying acupuncture and other oriental medicine techniques from his extensive repertoire, Lynn found that Koro-sensei’s body had a consistency that reminded him of Tom and the Fishmen from Water Seven—oddly familiar despite being utterly alien.
“This means the knowledge I gained from the Grand Line is proving useful here,” Lynn muttered to himself, the cool metal of his stethoscope pressing against his neck as he straightened. The next day, he shared his findings with Koro-sensei. “I understand what’s happening to your body and can prevent further degradation, but I still don’t know how to save you.”
“Really?” The creature’s round eyes widened with surprise, his skin shifting to a contemplative blue. “I’ve read every book on medicine, including Oriental ones, but nothing comes close to my affliction.” His face darkened with suspicion, a pattern of green stripes appearing. “Are you sure you’re not trying to assassinate me?”
The accusation struck a nerve. Lynn’s fingers tightened around his medical bag, the leather creaking under his grip. “Keep your doubts to yourself, octopus,” he snapped, the harshness in his voice betraying hints of his former life. “I’ve sworn to stop killing and focus solely on saving lives. That’s why I refused the higher-ups’ orders to eliminate you, so don’t question my intentions.” The words tasted bitter in his mouth as he turned to leave the room, the wooden floorboards creaking beneath his polished shoes.
Pausing at the doorway, Lynn glanced back over his shoulder. “I’ll personally deliver the prescribed medicine tomorrow to ensure it’s not tampered with. Keep the children in check so I don’t have to deal with them, Octopus…” His voice echoed in the silent classroom as he exited and made his way back to his office, where the familiar scent of antiseptic and herbal remedies awaited him.
The students in Class E huddled by the window, watching the unfamiliar middle-aged man depart. His pristine white coat billowed slightly in the breeze as he walked with military precision across the campus grounds. The blue-haired boy, Shiota Nagisa, turned to his classmates with furrowed brows.
“Who’s that man?” he asked, the pen in his hand poised over his notebook where he’d been documenting potential weaknesses of their tentacled teacher. “Karasuma-sensei seems very respectful toward him, and even Miss Vitch looks frightened.”
Akabane Karma, leaning against the wall with his hands tucked casually in his pockets, shrugged. The red-haired troublemaker’s eyes gleamed with curiosity. “No idea, but anyone who makes Bitch-sensei quiver like that is worth investigating.”
The Class E students remained puzzled until they spotted something unusual—their rivals from Class A approaching the mysterious man with flushed faces and excited chatter. The elite students clutched notebooks and pens, eagerly seeking autographs and engaging the white-coated figure in conversation.
“This is the first time I’ve seen Class A come here in such a large group…” Nagisa mumbled, the shock evident in his voice as he watched the typically aloof students practically fawning over the stranger.
Karma pushed himself off the wall, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. “Hey, it looks like they know who he is. Let’s find out more from them,” he suggested, noting that the Class A students were being led by none other than the principal’s son.
With the efficiency that came from their assassination training, the Class E students quickly cornered and abducted Gakushu Asano, the principal’s son, to interrogate him about the mysterious visitor. The blonde boy sat with his arms crossed, looking down his nose at them despite being their captive.
“Typical of Class E’s failures, not knowing about the legend himself. Ha!” Gakushu taunted, his voice dripping with condescension.
“This brat…” One of the students clenched his fist, but Karma held up a hand to stop him.
Gakushu brushed invisible dust from his immaculate uniform. “Anyway, how can you not know about the God’s Hand? Every aspiring doctor looks up to him. He’s even appeared on several shows; he’s that famous…”
“God’s Hand?”
“Yes, the world’s number one surgeon and medical expert…”
“Huh? I feel like I’ve heard of him before…”
“Is there someone with such a fatal illness that even Mister Lynn had to come personally?”
Gakushu’s eyes narrowed at the question. “Ugh… well, that’s classified.”
The principal’s son attempted to extract whatever information he could in exchange for his freedom, but was unceremoniously kicked away as soon as he had provided the details they wanted.
As he dusted himself off and retreated, Gakushu was certain Lynn would return, and he silently vowed to keep a close watch for the surgeon’s second visit.
Meanwhile, the students of Class E began gathering all available information about the enigmatic figure known as the God’s Hand, both online and offline.
The classroom buzzed with activity as they pooled their findings.
“One report says he’s a 40-year-old medic from the army,” reported Kataoka Meg, her fingers flying across her laptop keyboard. “He’s renowned worldwide for his medical skills and holds over three doctorates. Despite his fame, he’s refused numerous offers to move abroad, choosing instead to serve his country.” The class representative looked up from her screen. “He doesn’t seek publicity and avoids unwanted attention, which is why only those in his field or aspiring to join it know of him. Apart from being a year younger than our principal and the boss of teacher Karasuma, I didn’t find anything else.”
“Creating cures for various diseases and improving medical drugs to prevent cancer and other fatal illnesses,” Ritsu’s digital voice chimed in from Nagisa’s phone. “He’s also been nominated for the Nobel Prize six times… Wow, this person is amazing,” Karma remarked, genuine admiration coloring his typically sarcastic tone.
Nagisa frowned at his own findings. “I found that Sadogashima Lynn dropped out of junior high school at 14.
The reason for this is unknown, as the information from that time isn’t up to date.” He tapped his pen against his notebook thoughtfully. “Is there something suspicious about this?”
“That’s right,” Isogai added, leaning forward. “I understand that Karasuma respects him since he’s his superior, but why is Miss Vitch also afraid of him? Is he someone extraordinarily strong?”
“What a mystery,” Kayano mused, twirling a strand of green hair around her finger. “Should we ask Miss Vitch about this?”
“Let’s do that,” the class agreed in unison.
The students decided to visit Irina Jelavić, nicknamed “Vitch” by the students, the former assassin who had once tried to eliminate Koro-sensei using a honey trap but failed. They found her in the faculty office, applying another coat of bright red lipstick.
“That man?” she asked, snapping her compact mirror shut. “Why do you want to know?” The afternoon light catching on her blonde hair couldn’t hide the momentary flash of unease in her eyes.
“Obviously because we’re suspicious of him!” one student replied.
Vitch’s perfectly manicured nails drummed nervously against the desk. “Keep away from him; he’s incredibly intimidating. I never expected to see him here…” She sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly.
“How do you know about him, Vitch-sensei?” Nagisa pressed, his observant eyes not missing any detail of her discomfort.
Karma leaned against the doorframe, his casual posture belied by the sharpness in his golden eyes. “Ah, are you trying to honey trap him and get him to relocate to another country but failed?”
Vitch squinted at the students and pressed her lips together, refusing to answer further. Knowing they wouldn’t extract any more information from her, the students decided to seek out Karasuma instead.
They found their stern-faced PE teacher in the training grounds, overseeing the maintenance of their anti-sensei weapons. The scent of gunpowder and rubber hung in the air as he turned to face them.
“He’s my commander and master in martial training… that’s all I know,” Karasuma stated flatly, his posture military-straight. “The details you’ve uncovered are the extent of what I know. Vitch should know more, but since she won’t share, you’ll have to ask the man himself.” The afternoon sun glinted off his black suit as he returned to his work.
“Will he even answer us?”
“Who knows? You can try asking him yourself if you want,” Karasuma shrugged, the rare gesture breaking his usually rigid demeanor.
Interrogating the suspicious man directly seemed unfeasible to the students, so they turned their attention to Koro-sensei, hoping their unusual teacher might have insights into the mysterious doctor.
They found Koro-sensei in the classroom, grading papers at a supernatural speed, the sound of his red pen scratching against paper filling the room like rapid-fire rainfall. “Sadogashima Lynn is a monster,” Koro-sensei declared when they asked, his skin flickering briefly to a dark purple.
“How can you call him a monster when you look like one yourself?” Terasaka retorted, gesturing at Koro-sensei’s yellow tentacles and permanent grin.
“I might look like a monster, but he’s a monster with human skin,” Koro-sensei replied, setting down his grading pen. The tone of his voice changed, becoming more serious as his face turned blue with contemplation. “Karasuma-sensei didn’t mention that Sadogashima Lynn is a General in the Army, which is a well-hidden fact. I only learned about it because someone from the lab, who cooperates with the army, mentioned it.”
The tentacled teacher moved to the window, gazing out at the forested mountain where their isolated classroom sat. “His exploits in war zones are legendary, so much so that even an assassin like me has heard about him. Several people attempted to assassinate him, but those who had their lives saved by the God’s Hand eliminated the assassins before I could take on the mission…”
“He killed them himself?” Nagisa asked, pen poised to record this new information.
“No, not directly,” Koro-sensei clarified, turning back to face the class. “The assassins learned of the commission and felt obligated to protect their savior. They acted out of gratitude for their lives being saved by him.”
“What’s intriguing is how the country itself tried to obscure his existence,” Koro-sensei continued, slithering back to his desk. “Though I could search for more information now, in the past, no one would share his story. There should be more hidden if one seeks it…”
The yellow octopus spoke, his skin continuously shifting between colors like a biological mood ring.
“It’s not that no one would tell the story; they simply forgot…”
The unexpected voice from the doorway startled everyone. Headmaster Gakuha Asano stood there, his tall figure casting a long shadow across the classroom floor.
He moved slowly towards them, the floorboards creaking under his measured steps.
“Headmaster!” the octopus exclaimed, clearly surprised by his superior’s sudden appearance.
With the speed of sound, Koro-sensei zoomed around the room, serving treats and tea to the headmaster like a diligent servant. The aroma of freshly brewed green tea filled the air as he placed a cup before Asano. The students watched with mixed expressions of disbelief and amusement but shifted their focus when Karma boldly asked, “What do you mean by ‘forgot,’ Headmaster?”
Gakuha Asano, the current headmaster, sipped his tea thoughtfully. Steam curled up from the cup as he gazed out the window, his eyes distant as if looking into the past. The late afternoon light cast half his face in shadow as he reminisced about his time teaching there. Then he replied, his voice grave:
“The events occurred so rapidly and were so frightening that those who knew preferred to forget them as soon as possible. The truth behind the events remains obscure since the victims were notorious bullies at the school…”
“I see, so it happened quickly, within a day or less…” Koro-sensei said, summarizing the headmaster’s explanation, his voice unusually subdued.
“That’s right.” The headmaster set down his teacup with a soft clink against the saucer. “According to my research, it all happened within a quarter of a day.” His eyes grew cold, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees as he finished, “A second-grade middle schooler, younger than you all by a year, killed 30 people cold-bloodedly and maimed four students.”
The classroom fell into stunned silence, broken only by the distant call of crows from the mountain forest outside.
